Own a Horse Clinic

Here is a chance to have your own horse to call yours. You will be responsible for everything that has to do with taking care of your own horse. In addition to a riding lessons activities may include arriving early to feed, clean stalls, barn chores, turnout, grooming, preparing to ride for your lesson, in addition to much more! You might learn how to braid manes and tails, do clipping, trim manes, bathing the horse, clean tack, etc.
Minimum Reccomended age is 8 years old and it is preferred to have some prior experience around horses. Hours are variable depending on the date so please contact the academy to get more information. You may need to bring a bag lunch, snack, etc. There will be a refrigerator available for student use.
Adult supervision at all times and instruction provided from certified instructors. As usual, a shoe/boot with a smooth sole and defined heel is required for working around and riding horses. No deep tread footwear is permitted. If you don't have your own helmet, you may borrow ours. Cost is $60. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Full payment is required to be considered registered with a reserved place. 2011 Pony Camp Sleep Over
(Saturday April 30-Sunday May 1)
What is Pony Camp Sleep Over All About?
Pony Camp Sleepover is a sleep over at the barn along with all the fun horse stuff thrown in! Enjoy working with the horses on the ground and for a lesson. Spend time doing fun things which may include horse-related hands on activities, games or movies. Dinner and campfire cookout round out the night. Wake up in the morning, grab something to eat and then off to help with morning barn chores which may include feeding, turnout, etc. All activities will be based on camper insterests and abilities as a group and may not include all of the activities listed (campers will definitely participate in a mounted lesson).
Arrival time is 3pm on Saturday and Departure time is 10am on Sunday. Campers sleep in heated room located in indoor arena. Be prepared to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, riding clothes, extra outdoor clothing for working with the horses and for the cookout! All levels of students are welcome at each camp and will be divided by skill level for certain activities if necessary. **All activities will be adjusted as needed depending upon the skill level, experience and age of the campers.

A Riding test may be needed prior to the start of camp or at the beginning of camp

Smooth sole boot with heel, long pants and helmet are required. (If you don't own a helmet, one may be borrowed
Liability Release is required to be signed on 1st day of camp by parent or guardian
FEES: Full Day Summer Camp Session: $220

Weekend Riding Camps I & II
These camps offer the chance to learn, work and laugh together with your family or friends as you discover the fun in safe riding and horse management. Participants will enjoy feeding horses, learning to lead, groom and tack, horse husbandry, take a riding lesson and participate in a special horse event (simple games on horseback, mini-horse show or trail ride). Other topics that may be covered based on the interest of the group: cost of horse ownership, special horse care needs, careers with horses...etc.
Camps are divided into part I & II:
Part I: Topics to be covered include barn tour, safety around horses, horse husbandry, leading, grooming tacking, group discussions.
Part I: A continuation of Part I~ Review of what was covered in Part I, other horse husbandry activities, group discussions, riding lesson and special horse event.

What else do I need to know?
Tentative camp hours are 8am - 2:00pm
Participants must wear boots with a heel- no sneakers!
Helmets are available for lease ($2 per rider)
Participants must provide their own lunch.
Camps are set up on consecutive weekends but any PART I camp may be taken with any PART II camp.
Cost per camp per rider is $60.
